Cupcake Road Race Benefiting The Place of Forsyth
2nd Annual Race Will Offer Gourmet and Gluten/Vegan Cupcake Options
It’s cupcakes for all as runners and walkers take to the street in Cumming, GA for the 2nd Annual CUPCAKE ROAD RACE. The event is on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Totally Running and everyone who runs or walks will get a cupcake when they cross the finish line. When registering for the race runners/walkers have the option of choosing a decadent, gourmet cupcake or a gluten/vegan cupcake.
Two Alpharetta bakeries will be providing the cupcakes for the CUPCAKE ROAD RACE. Once Upon a Cake will indulge the sweet tooth with their gourmet cupcakes, while Mama Makes Safe Cakes will offer a gluten/vegan cupcake baked in their facility free of wheat/gluten, dairy, eggs, peanuts, soy, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. Other local sponsors include Rosati’s, NaturAlmond, Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and Nationwide Insurance.
Participants can choose either the 15k distance or 5k distance (on a USATF certified course). Both distances will be chip timed and are flat and fast – a treat for runners and walkers! All participants in the 15k and 5k events will receive a t-shirt, cupcake, and goody bag, and will be entered into drawings for great door prizes.
There is also a Baby Cake Run, for children under 10 years old that is on a closed 1⁄2 mile course. Baby Cake Run participants all receive a medal and cupcake, and can purchase a t-shirt for $10. Parents are welcome to run alongside their children.
All proceeds from the CUPCAKE ROAD RACE benefit The Place of Forsyth, a nonprofit Social Service Organization serving Forsyth County families with emergency basic needs in difficult times since 1975. Last year the event raised $14,000 and organizers are hoping to increase the amount raised this year.
There will be advanced packet pick up on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 11am to 6pm at Totally Running, 405 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 105, Cumming, GA 30041. This is also the start/finish location for Saturday’s race. Race day packet pick up will open at 6am. Runners are encouraged to pre-register before February 15 to guarantee a t-shirt.
