Have you ever thought about writing a book to memorialize a loved one? This month’s Community Author Spotlight shines on author Hal Schmerer and his late daughter Naomi Schmerer.

After his daughter Naomi lost her battle with cancer, Hal created the book Waiting for the Next Blue Sky using her photographs, blog entries, and poems combined with writings from him and others. The book chronicles Naomi’s cancer discovery and her fight to beat it. It also includes stories about Naomi from friends and family.

Hal will talk about the process of creating the book, including his experience of self-publishing.
