FCHS Dance DAWGS Finish Year as State Division Champs at UDA
The Forsyth Central High School dance team placed 1st in the Varsity Kick category and 2nd in the Varsity Pom category, at the 2013 Universal Dance Association (UDA) GA Dance Championship held on Saturday, February 16th at McIntosh High School. Senior Jessica DePhillips placed in the senior solo division, as well, against 20 other soloists.
The Universal Dance Association holds the event annually, and is one of the most attended dance competitions in the state. Several divisions were represented this year from 33 schools, including 21 high schools. The competition is judged on criteria such as technique, uniformity, difficulty, transitions, etc… “The competition this weekend included some tough competitors, but our girls really gave it all they had and we could not be more proud of them. It is exciting to say that they are division champs at such an important event! “ said Leah Heisler who coached the team with Amy Gravitt.
Dance Dawgs Booster Club President, Christie Loveless said, “We are so proud of our FCHS Dancers! Our girls have been practicing since August and they represented our school with honor yesterday placing 1st and 2nd against schools much bigger than us. What a way to end the season.”
Team sponsors for the 2012-2013 year include Choice Refrigerants, Cumming Dance Academy, and TNT Athletics. The team is very grateful to these companies for their support.
